Anacarda wins Queens Award for Enterprise!

We are delighted to announce that Anacarda Ltd, the UK’s leading supplier of Bio based specialist Cashew Nutshell derived epoxy hardeners is today (29th April 2021) celebrating being named winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The Wigan-based company secured the award – the UK’s most prestigious accolade for business success – in the Innovation category for its specialist Phenalkamine products offered under the Cardamine brand.

Cardamine grades are used in a variety of industrial coating applications, especially in protective Marine coatings. In keeping with UN initiatives and targeting Sustainable Development Goals, the Cardamine grades tick a multitude of boxes aside from their green sustainable feedstock and high bio-based Carbon content. These materials not only satisfy new regulations, but they also provide exceptional cure response and outstanding hydrophobicity and corrosion protection.

Paul Jones FRSC, Managing Director and Queens award recipient for innovative products developed for Bitrez and formulator of these Anacarda products said: “I’m delighted that Anacarda has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise especially in the innovation category. Anacardium occidentale, the Cashew Nut tree and the name of the tree that bears the fruit and nut from which a unique substituted phenol is extracted for this product range, was also the inspiration for the name of the Company, Anacarda Limited. This specialist business was set up with Anacarda co-Director Eric Van Nevel, a prominent figure in the Phenalkamine market. Having identified the target requirements, we brought these materials to market with Cardamine now recognised as the leading high-performance product in this class of chemistry, and it is an honour to be recognised with this award”.

Anacarda’ s exports continue to increase with over 90% coming from Cardamine grades and to date, sales have exceeded over 800 tonnes of Cardamine across the globe.
